Our Treatment Methods
ACT
ACT
Acceptance and Commitment Therapy is a cognitive based therapy that uses practices based in mindfulness to foster acceptance of what is most challenging in life and commit to values-based living.
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
COGNITIVE BEHAVIORAL THERAPY (CBT)
In the CBT groups, we will work with clients to examine how they think about the world, as our interpretation of events can lead to emotional responses. The goal will be to teach clients to identify and change dysfunctional thought patterns. Our therapists will be teaching clients new ways of behaving that will be more adaptive and lead to better overall functioning.
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)
DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOR THERAPY (DBT)
In DBT, our therapists work with clients to balance acceptance and change. Dialectical Behavior Therapy is helpful for those who may have behaviors interfering with successful treatment. We will work with clients to expand their toolbox of coping skills so they are able to experience painful emotions they may be avoiding, and so they can address problems of everyday life including career and relationships. DBT can help clients gain a greater sense of themselves by reducing potential feelings of boredom or emptiness.
GROUP THERAPY
GROUP THERAPY
Our experienced team will facilitate therapy in small groups. Groups are used to promote growth by developing, exploring, and examining interpersonal relationships within the group. This is a safe environment in which clients can feel comfortable sharing information that allows those with common issues, stories, and emotions to feel understood.
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
INDIVIDUAL THERAPY
In our PHP and IOP programs, individual therapy may be available on an as-needed basis, determined by clinical necessity from our therapists. Balance is happy to work alongside any client's existing mental health providers (therapists, psychiatrists, etc). to provide the most complete care possible.
MINDFULNESS
MINDFULNESS
Mindfulness Based Cognitive Therapy combines cognitive therapy and mindfulness meditation to learn new ways of relating to the experiences of depression and anxiety.
MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING (MI)
MOTIVATIONAL INTERVIEWING (MI)
Motivational Interviewing will help clients believe in their ability to change. It helps clients take personal responsibility for initiating and sustaining healthy behavior. Motivational Interviewing normally includes problem-solving and solution-focused strategies that build on clients’ past success. The therapist will listen empathically and interview with purpose, to encourage the client to find discrepancies between reaching their life goals and the consequences of continuing to go on as they have without making changes.
MULTI-FAMILY GROUP
MULTI-FAMILY GROUP
Multi-Family Groups are designed to develop an alliance between the client, family, providers and others in the support network. Our team works to help inform family members about mental illness, develop communication skills and problem solve. The goal is to provide understanding and support the so client may live the most fulfilling life possible.
NEUROFEEDBACK
NEUROFEEDBACK
Neurofeedback helps the brain operate to its potential, like exercise helps the body. It is a real-time reward system for the brain as it is retrained for healthier activity. Neurofeedback, also called EEG Biofeedback, is a learning process that helps to build new or more appropriate neuropathways by allowing us to observe the brain’s activity and provide the client with feedback in real time. The client is rewarded for the new and healthier pathways created. Through a gradual process, the client is able to use this feedback to retrain their brain to function better as they are developing these self-regulation skills.
NUTRITION
NUTRITION
A diet filled with whole, natural foods is key in the development of the brain and cognitive function. With a diet optimizing nutritional benefits, while still addressing individual needs, clients may notice a significant difference in physical and mental well-being. Anxiety wanes, mental clarity is abundant, energy levels are increased and moods lift. Clients are given all the tools required to continue their path of wellness including recipes, meal plans, shopping lists and extensive knowledge from cooking and nutrition classes.
PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
PSYCHODYNAMIC PSYCHOTHERAPY
This form of therapy focuses on revealing the unconscious content of the client’s psyche that is causing tension. This is similar to psychoanalysis, as it involves looking at early experiences, internal conflicts and problems, interpersonal relationships and defense mechanisms. Working through these core issues is the key to successful recovery from mental health and dual diagnosis struggles.
RECREATION THERAPY
RECREATION THERAPY
Clients are able to heal through the use of creative expression and imagination, through the use of the body, and through the use of the “right brain” which allows us to express feelings and emotions before censoring ourselves. The process, rather than the final product, is emphasized.
STRESS/HEALTH MANAGEMENT
STRESS/HEALTH MANAGEMENT
Our treatment will include techniques focused on controlling the client’s level of stress. As stress is known to contribute to physical and emotional decline, the process of stress management is the key to a successful life. At Balance Treatment Center, we focus on the positive and healthy.
